AEM has completely redesigned their Water/Methanol Controller Modules for easier installation and programming, and has new upgrades to improve performance and to make installing this kit easier. In addition to redesigning their water/methanol injection kits, AEM has released Water/Methanol kits for both high compression naturally aspirated and forced induction race engines. The new boost dependent controller for forced induction vehicles up to 35 PSI has an on-board manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor with a molded- in nipple for a boost hose pickup. The second controller kit AEM has released now features a multiple input design that will allow users to install AEM's Water/Methanol Injection Kit on both high compression naturally aspirated vehicles using the MAF/IDC settings and ultra-high boost vehicles that run over 35PSI using an external MAP sensor. The AEM Multi Input controller works with an external 0-5v voltage-based external MAP sensor, a frequency based input for Injector Duty Cycle (IDC), frequency-based mass airflow (MAF), or a 0-5v voltage-based MAF.
The new AEM Water/Methanol controllers feature large, turn-resistant knobs, easily accessible integrated fuse, molded mounting tabs and larger numbering to effortlessly set accurate start and full activation points, with covered LED's and buttons for splash resistance. AEM has integrated a plug into the controller for mating to the redesigned wiring harness's positive-lock connector. The Boost Dependent controller has a wiring legend on the back to pair with the molded in boost hose nipple. The Multi Input controller has an easily removable plug covering the dip switches and a programming guide on the back of the module for the 0-5v and frequency based settings. Another new feature is the "Boost Safe" injection fail-safe system that is an output which will activate if a short is detected, loss of continuity, high/low voltage or low fluid conditions, that will allow the user to custom set their fail-safe strategy from a simple flashing warning light to a more advanced strategy like pulling boost or ignition, or switching fuel maps on a standalone management system.
The newly improved wiring harness on AEM's Water/Methanol kit is terminated with a positive-lock connector on one end and has color coded wires to make installing their kit easier and more user friendly. An integrated Pump Ground circuit has been included in the wiring harness which will greatly simplify process of wiring and will eliminate any chance of the pump malfunctioning and activating from a short in the system. Included in this system is an additional wire for adding an optional on/off solenoid to stop flow of fluids when the system is not active. AEM's engineers spent long hours redesigning the new controller's flow strategy for a increased linear flow delivery that allows the flow delivery to better match an engine's need for water/methanol injection, which increases the charge air cooling and detonation control. Three re-sized injector nozzles are in each kit and allow for improved flow capability. A more accurate, low level fluid sensor has been added into the water/methanol tank and has a positive lock connector with color matched wires to the harness. This sensor will eliminate any chance of incorrect readings that may come from interference caused by debris.
